Hero of Evil's Bane: Chapter 5


A monster appeared before Joel in a white room. The beast had spikes coming out of its elbows that were glowing with energy. "So I see that you aren't human Joel yet, you are still one of them." stated the creature. "Who are you, and how do you know my name?" asked Joel.

"Wouldn't you like to know? You see Joel I am like you, a being with abilities that are far more powerful than any of these pathetic humans on this planet. You see, I have been watching you Joel ever since The Sword of Darkness escaped from that prison that the Starlight Knights had put it in. So I know almost all about you." said the creature as it smiled. "You may think that you can win this war but I have already foreseen the future of the cosmos. I have seen the fall of the Starlight Knights, Da, William, and all others who oppose me."

The beast lost its smile and opened a portal behind it. Before it stepped through the hole it said "Remember this Joel for soon you will regret joining the Starlight Knights!" then the creature stepped through the portal and Joel awoke.

"Joel your awake!" said Nancy
Joel was startled to see Nancy there in the hospital room of the Starlight Knights because he knew that civilians weren't supposed to be there.

"Umm, uh…" said Joel as he tried to find a way to leave the room without looking to weird.
"It's alright Joel she knows." said William as he entered the room.
"But why would she be here? Aren't we supposed to be secret?"
"We had to activate code: BLACK. It means that someone has injuries that only can be healed by our medics."

Joel was glad to know that everything was alright and that no one had been killed. "So has Da given out any missions yet?" asked Joel
"Ya, in fact he wants you to go to the training area where you first came here. He actually wants us both to go over there."

Joel grabbed Kleita put on his armor and went towards the training area. He saw Nancy in the corner of his eye giggling as he left the room. "Hey why is she giggling like that?" asked Joel as he was walking with William. "Dude it's because she knows that you like her and haven't said a single word to her since she woke you up." he said in reply. "But I was busy I had to know what happened!" said Joel in embarrassment. "Ya, ya, ya, that's a bunch up baloney. Anyone who see's you can tell that you like her. And that you don't have any guts to speak to her" replied William. "No! Wait, I…" said Joel but Kleita had cut him off. "Joel sorry but I can easily tell that you like her especially since I can read your thoughts just like how you can read mine."
"Nice going jackass." said Joel.

When they finally met up with Da, Joel was the first to speak "Hey Leonardo (the Joel version of Da's name)!"
"What?" said Da in confusion with William in unison?
"Well you know how you name is Da?"
"Ya?" replied Da.
"Well thing about it, "Da" Vinci, or like right now Leonardo "Da" Vinci." said Joel.

Da just stared at him while William and Kleita thought about it.
"What?" said Joel "Don't you get it?"

Da just stared at him with complete plainness on his face making Joel look like a complete moron while William started trying not to laugh AT Joel for looking like a retard because of Da's killer look.

"Anyways" said Da after the long stare down at Joel "time for me to tell you two about your new mission, but first I need Joel to do something."

Da took out some stone that had different symbols on them.
"Joel I want you focus your ability to shoot those bolts from your hands with all of your power at all of these stones." he said.

"Okay." said Joel. He began to focus his energies once again and the green light formed all around him. He felt as though he had more power than all of the other times before when he had used this technique. Soon the light was glowing very brightly and Joel was beginning to sweat from focusing the power within him. "Do I shoot now?" asked Joel as he was trying not to loose his focus. "Now Joel." Da said.

Then Joel forced the entire bolts of energy from within him and shot at the stones. Soon after all that was left were the stones and a huge crater that was about 12 ft in diameter. Joel was panting as Da began studying each of the stones. Soon he found one that had the symbol of a man that was riding upon a stream of stars with dark spots here and there.

"Hmm, interesting." Da said. "What? What is it Da?" asked Joel.
Da looked back at Joel while holding the stone in his hand. "Joel," he said "Take this stone and crack it open then read the contents that are within it."
Joel looked at him confused then took the stone from Da. After breaking the stone with ease Joel read the small scroll that was within. Soon Joel smiled and began glowing with the green light again.

"Do you understand its contents Joel?" asked Da. Joel stopped glowing then said "I do."
Da then continued the conversation.
"Now that this is done and over with let us get on with the mission. You two are going to track down the base of the Light runners that are in the area."
"Um, what are Light runners?" Joel asked.
"Remember those beasts that you fought Joel?"
"Yes."
"Well those are Light runners, evil creatures that live of the light with means that they get more powerful every second of the day."
"Okay now lets just get to the point here, where are we being assigned to go?" asked William

Da said two words that made Joel get so excited "Las Vegas."
